LES TRAVAUX D'HIVER, PRÉTAILLAGE ET TAILLE

Winter is essentially the season when the vines rest, giving the winegrowers a few months of welcome calm after the busy harvest period. Work during these short days begins again with pre-pruning, which is done using a "Pretal" machine, and then proceeds to the actual pruning, which is of course done by hand.

Finally, the vine cuttings that litter the soil beneath the vines are shredded, enriching the soil, and significantly reducing the amount of organic fertilizer required to ensure a good quality harvest in the following year.

The mild weather this year facilitated the work, which is overseen at Coussin, Maupague and Afrique, by our steward Nicolas Gruey.
